Mermaid Mask Review: Funniest Underwater Murder Mystery Game 2026

The Mermaid Mask review reveals a hilarious underwater murder mystery that blends clever puzzles, witty dialogue, and a charming cast. This sequel to Tangle Tower delivers laughs and intrigue in equal measure, making it a must-play for fans of the genre.

Gameplay and Puzzles

In The Mermaid Mask, you guide Detective Grimoire and his sharp-tongued sidekick Sally through a submarine to solve the locked-room murder of Captain Magnus Mortuga. The gameplay revolves around clicking through cluttered rooms, listening to comedic commentary, and examining clues. Puzzles are intuitive, never frustrating, and often involve arranging objects to satisfy logical rules.

On Nintendo Switch 2, the mouse controls are surprisingly useful, though not ideal for long sessions. The puzzles serve as gateways to new areas and items, which you can then present to suspects during interrogations.

Voice Acting and Characters

The heart of the game lies in its fully voice-acted conversations with a colorful cast. Characters like Madam Tadpole, a buff green-skinned woman with gills, and Mariana Moon, an older woman with a muffled voice when chewing her pipe, add depth and humor. The dialogue is well-performed, and the music, while not as memorable as Tangle Tower's, doesn't detract from the experience.
