Ukraine Drones Hit Wildberries Warehouse 2,000km from Border 2026

The Ukraine war briefing reveals that Ukrainian long-range drones hit a Wildberries warehouse in Ekaterinburg, over 2,000km from the border, marking a significant escalation in deep-strike capabilities. This attack on Russia's largest online retailer's facility underscores the expanding reach of Kyiv's drone operations and the vulnerability of Russian infrastructure far from the front lines.

Deep Strikes: Ukraine's Drone Warfare Strategy

Ukraine has increasingly used long-range drones to target strategic assets inside Russia, aiming to disrupt logistics and economic stability. The strike on the Wildberries warehouse in the Ural Mountains is one of the most distant attacks, highlighting Moscow's challenges in defending vast territory.

According to local officials, three drones hit the warehouse's roof, causing a fire but most merchandise was undamaged. Over a dozen other Wildberries depots have been struck in recent weeks, with many burning down, indicating a deliberate campaign against retail and supply chain nodes.

Impact on Russian Infrastructure and Economy

The repeated drone attacks on Wildberries facilities signal a new phase in the conflict, where Ukraine targets civilian economic infrastructure to pressure the Kremlin. This strategy aims to undermine public confidence and increase the costs of war for ordinary Russians.

In response, President Putin chaired a security council meeting to discuss strengthening protection of infrastructure facilities, but details remain sparse. The attacks also come amid heightened international sanctions, with the US Senate passing a bill for sweeping energy sanctions on Russia, welcomed by President Zelenskyy and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
