Ann Widdecombe Murder Suspect Probed in Farage Burglary 2026

Police are investigating whether Joshua Kerry, the man charged with the murder of former Reform UK and Conservative politician Ann Widdecombe, had any role in an attempted burglary at Nigel Farage's London home. This new line of enquiry has reopened a previously closed case, raising questions about missed evidence and potential connections between the two incidents.

Ann Widdecombe Murder: Key Developments

Ann Widdecombe, 78, was killed at her Devon home in July, leading to a counter-terrorism police investigation. Joshua Kerry, 28, from Rotherham, has been charged with her murder. Now, police are re-examining an April 2025 incident at a London address where Farage was living, which was initially recorded as an attempted burglary but may have been attempted arson.

Reopened Investigation into Farage Incident

Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) has confirmed that officers have reopened the investigation into the April 2025 incident. They are studying fingerprints, CCTV footage, and video doorbell recordings. Detectives are also examining the scene for traces of accelerants like lighter fluid. The CTP has referred itself to the police watchdog over the initial handling of the case.

In a statement, CTP said: "As part of the ongoing investigation led by Counter Terrorism Policing South East into the murder of Ann Widdecombe, officers have reopened an investigation into an incident reported to police last year." They noted that the Metropolitan police initially received a report of attempted burglary, but no arrests were made, and the case was closed pending new leads.

Comparison of the Two Incidents

While the murder of Ann Widdecombe and the attempted burglary at Farage's home are separate events, investigators are exploring possible links. The table below summarizes key details:

Potential Missed Evidence

The CTP admitted that a line of enquiry was not identified or pursued during the initial investigation of the April 2025 incident. This has prompted an internal review and referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). Detectives are now re-examining all evidence with fresh eyes.
