Jürgen Klopp has been confirmed as Germany's new head coach, vowing to change a country through football. In his first press conference, the former Liverpool manager laid out his vision for the national team and issued a stark warning to the media regarding his family's privacy.
Klopp's Vision for Germany
Klopp, 59, takes over after Julian Nagelsmann's departure on 3 July. He previously worked as head of global soccer for Red Bull since January 2025, but his return to frontline coaching had been widely anticipated. The German tactician emphasized his desire to rebuild the fractured relationship between the national team and its fans, drawing on his experience at Liverpool.

“I want to create a situation where fans go home after the game and say: ‘Wow, that was cool,’” Klopp stated. “I want people to say: ‘Wow, it was worth putting the TV on for 90 minutes to see Germany play.’” He added that football can transform a city and even a country, referencing the cultural impact of his Liverpool tenure.
Contract and Media Warning
His contract runs until after the 2030 World Cup. However, Klopp made clear that he would not tolerate invasive treatment of his family. “The day you don’t want me any more, I’m prepared to leave without compensation,” he warned, citing how Nagelsmann and Thomas Tuchel were treated by the press.
