The Hundred 2026 season brings massive changes with new owners, inflated budgets, and renamed teams. Private investors have injected over £500 million into the domestic cricket competition, transforming the landscape for players, coaches, and fans alike.
Key Changes in The Hundred 2026
While the core format remains the same—eight teams, 100-ball innings, and group stages leading to a final—the ownership and branding have shifted significantly. Three teams have adopted new names: Oval Invincibles become MI London, Northern Superchargers become SunRisers Leeds, and Manchester Originals become Manchester Super Giants, complete with a new elephant logo.

Impact on Teams and Players
The influx of private money means better facilities, coaching, and player retention. Teams are now aligned with Indian Premier League franchises, boosting global appeal. However, critics note the loss of local identity with renamed sides.
- Increased competitiveness: Higher salaries attract top international talent.
- Rebranding: New logos and team names reflect IPL ownership.
- Schedule unchanged: Women's and men's matches remain back-to-back.
- Prize structure: Four points for a win, two for a tie or abandonment.
What This Means for Fans
Fans can expect a higher standard of play and more star power. The group phase runs from Tuesday to August 12, with the top team going straight to the final, and second and third playing a playoff. Attendance and viewership are expected to surge with the revamped competition.
