Chelsea Transfer News: Chalobah Exit, Henderson Signing 2026

Chelsea transfer news: The club has sold Trevoh Chalobah to Como and signed Jordan Henderson, reshaping their squad under new manager Xabi Alonso. This double move highlights Chelsea's strategy of balancing finances while adding experience.

Chelsea Sell Trevoh Chalobah to Como

Trevoh Chalobah's long association with Chelsea is to end after Como agreed a deal worth an initial £25.7m. The England defender made 105 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, establishing himself as a first-team option during turbulent periods. The package includes £5.1m in performance-related add-ons and a sell-on clause, a key factor for Chelsea's pure profit accounting.

For Como's head coach Cesc Fàbregas, this is a major coup. Fàbregas, a former Chelsea midfielder, pushed to bring the centre-back to Italy. Chalobah, 27, has been at Chelsea since age eight, and his departure marks another homegrown academy product leaving the club.

Jordan Henderson Joins Chelsea on Free Transfer

On the same day, Chelsea welcomed Jordan Henderson after his departure from Brentford. The 36-year-old joined on a free transfer after playing 34 times for the Bees last season, earning a place in England's World Cup squad. Henderson said, "Given the size of the club, the manager, who I have great admiration for, and the quality of the players, this was a huge opportunity I couldn't turn down."

Henderson's career spans Sunderland's academy, 12 seasons at Liverpool (492 games), and captaining Liverpool to Champions League victory in 2019 and the Premier League title in 2020. He later played for Al-Ettifaq, Ajax, and Brentford. He is Chelsea's fourth English signing of the window.
