London Spirit has undergone a dramatic transformation ahead of the 2025 Hundred season, with an almost entirely new squad and renewed ambition. Jamie Overton returns as the sole survivor from last year’s men’s team, highlighting the scale of change. The franchise, under new co-owners and with a fresh kit and logo, is positioning itself as a title contender.
Complete Squad Overhaul for London Spirit
The men’s side features only one player from the 2024 campaign: Jamie Overton. A new head coach, along with dedicated batting, fielding, spin, and pace bowling coaches, has been appointed. Overton noted, “Every side looks good now. It’s going to be a tough competition, but I’m backing this squad.”

The women’s team is slightly more settled. Charlie Dean takes over as permanent captain after stepping in for Heather Knight last year, and Grace Harris returns as well. Harris commented on the changes: “It’s a little bit weird, but it’s not that bad. We’ll still see former teammates around.”
New Ownership and Branding
London Spirit enters the 2025 Hundred with a new sponsor, a new kit produced by a different manufacturer, and a redesigned logo. The co-owners have invested heavily in rebuilding the roster and coaching staff, signaling a long-term commitment to success.
Key Players to Watch
- Jamie Overton – explosive batting and pace bowling
- Charlie Dean – spin bowler and captain
- Grace Harris – experienced all-rounder
- New overseas signings – yet to be officially confirmed
Comparison: 2024 vs 2025 London Spirit Squads
| Year | Men’s Squad Retained | Women’s Squad Retained | Head Coach |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 10+ players | 8 players | Previous coach |
| 2025 | 1 player (Overton) | 2 players (Dean, Harris) | New coach |
This table illustrates the radical shift in personnel. The men’s team retained only one player, while the women’s side kept two. Such turnover is unusual in franchise cricket but reflects the new ownership’s aggressive strategy.
Ambition and Expectations
Overton is optimistic: “We’ve got a lot of firepower, a lot of wicket-taking potential, and a hell of a lot of experience.” The team aims to improve on last year’s mid-table finish. With the competition now more balanced after the dominance of Oval Invincibles, London Spirit sees an opportunity.
Grace Harris echoed the sentiment: “Every team is effectively different this year. It’s wide open.” The squad’s mix of seasoned pros and fresh talent could be the formula for a deep playoff run.
