Perez Hilton Custody Battle: Mother Seeks Children's Safety 2026

Perez Hilton's mother has filed for temporary custody of his three children following his hospitalization after a mental health crisis. The celebrity blogger, known for his gossip empire, now faces a family legal battle that prioritizes the children's safety and well-being.

Background of the Crisis

On August 4, Hilton posted a now-deleted TikTok live stream from his south Florida home that showed him in distress, leading to multiple calls to authorities. The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office responded and confirmed he was Baker-Acted, a Florida law allowing involuntary psychiatric evaluation for up to 72 hours. His family reported he remained hospitalized in serious condition but stabilized, with surgery required for his injuries.

Custody Filing Details

Court documents filed in Miami-Dade County reveal that Hilton's mother, 48-year-old, seeks temporary custody of his three children. Attorney Natalie F Guerra-Valdes stated: "My main concern and objective, as well as the family's, is to protect the children and make sure they are safe." The filing emphasizes the need for normalcy and healing after the traumatic events.

Perez Hilton's Career and Public Persona

Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, pioneered the celebrity gossip blog business in the mid-2000s. He gained fame through high-profile feuds with icons like Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, and Lindsay Lohan. His blog turned him into a celebrity himself, but this personal crisis has shifted public focus to his family's well-being.

Legal and Family Considerations

In custody cases involving mental health, courts prioritize the child's best interests. Temporary custody orders often aim to provide stability while the parent receives treatment. Hilton's family indicated that his children, niece, and sister were inside the home minutes before the incident, raising urgent safety concerns.
