Colin's athletic prowess was extraordinary. In 1968, he set a 2,000m track record of 5min 8.2 sec, which was a UK record at the time, and also recorded a 4min 5.3 sec mile. These records still stand today within the Harriers club.

Founding Member and Official

In 1970, Colin became a founder member of the Fell Runners Association and the Red Rose Cross Country League. After retiring from serious running in 2010, he continued as a timekeeper and official at local events, often officiating alongside his wife Brenda.

He served as the club's cross country secretary and was president for the last 13 years of his life. His quiet, reserved nature belied a willingness to mentor younger athletes.
