Today we will teach you how to make an interesting car door shelf, which will allow you to keep everything organized.
This is a quick luggage rack to keep your car doors or other objects safe...

Steps to make a shelf for car doors:
#1: Pieces
- 4 10’X1″ PVC pipes
- 6 1″ Pipe Insulators
- 14 1″ PVC Elbows
- 10 1″ T-connectors

- Cut the tube into 10 – 2′ sections
- 8 4″ Sections
- And the rest in 1′ section
#2: Join the vertices

- Connect two 2′ sections and one 1′ section with elbows.
- Do this 5 times.
#3: Start the foundation

- Create two base sections, each with a T-Connector.
- Before pressing them too hard, make sure all T-Connector sections are facing down and flat on the ground. This will help ensure that everyone is pointing up.
- Then, connect three of the vertical sections into these.
#4: Crossed tubes

- Create two sections, each with a 4″ T-connector section.
- Then, connect the two sections at the T-Connector with a 1′ section.
- Attach this to one end of the main base and add a vertical up from the elbows.
- Repeat this on the opposite end. And look at the photos... It's easier than reading all this. 🙂
#5: Foam!

- Cut foam pipe insulators to fit every 1″ section of pipe you can.
- The insulators are split in half and are self-adhesive so you can cut, roll, and secure them in place very easily.
- The foam insulators are just a little wider than the elbows and T-connectors so that the doors can rest against them without rubbing the PVC.
#6: Testing!

- Take off the doors! The two front doors rest against the central vertical section.
- The two rear doors go in the outer slots.
- I put them on their side since the bottoms of the doors are quite narrow.
- Looking back, I could have reduced the shelf width a bit to give the rear doors better clearance, but I suspect they would still be prone to knocks or wind.
#7: Final Adjustments

- I shortened the distance between the posts to 6″ and reduced the height to 19″, this keeps the posts vertical under the mirrors and door handles allowing them to fit into the 6″ gap.
- I also mounted it on a furniture stand so it can roll around
- I glued it all together with PVC glue to help harden it as well.
- I modified my shelf. I shortened the distance between the posts to 6″ and reduced the height to 19″.
- This keeps the posts vertical under the mirrors and door handles allowing them to fit into the 6″ space.
- I also put wheels on it. I glued it all together with PVC glue to help stiffen it as well. I have modified my rack.
- I also added a couple of Velcro straps to hold the doors together while rolling down the driveway.
