Barcelona have signed Brazil forward Kerolin from Manchester City for a club-record £1.25m, making it the largest fee ever received by a Women's Super League (WSL) side. This landmark transfer not only reshapes the attacking options for the reigning European champions but also signals a new financial era in women's football. The deal eclipses previous records, including Liverpool's £1m sale of Olivia Smith to Arsenal and Manchester United's £850,000 transfer of Melvine Malard to Chelsea.
Kerolin's Rise and Impact at Manchester City
Kerolin, 26, joined Manchester City in January 2025 from North Carolina Courage and quickly became a pivotal figure in their title-winning campaign. Her pace, trickery, and goal-scoring ability helped City secure the WSL title and the Women's FA Cup last season. With 18 months at the club, she leaves a lasting legacy, having contributed crucial goals and assists in both domestic and European competitions.
