Jon Ossoff Calls Trump's Iran War Handling 'Uniquely Despicable' 2026

Jon Ossoff, the Democratic senator from Georgia, has delivered a scathing attack on President Trump's handling of the Iran war, calling it "uniquely despicable" in a fiery speech in Atlanta. The remarks, made at a rally on Sunday, are part of a series of stinging critiques that have fueled speculation about a potential 2028 presidential bid.

Ossoff's Excoriating Speech

Ossoff accused the Trump administration of "re-rigging" a corrupt system for personal gain, claiming that Americans were made to pay more for everything while the president and his family profited. He specifically pointed to the prolonged deployment of sailors aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, which has lasted nearly nine months, and criticized Trump for suggesting they hadn't been deployed long enough.

"While the sailors on the Lincoln fight his war, while he fruitlessly drains our munitions and oil reserves, the president sleeps through his meetings," Ossoff said. "He golfs and trades stocks. See, he doesn't want to do the job. He wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the amir of Qatar."
