India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vowed to set up fast-track courts to punish officials accused of exam leak scandals, responding to the youth-led 'Cockroach' protests that have rocked Delhi. In his first public remarks, Modi posted on X, emphasizing that nothing is more important than the welfare and future of India's youth. The movement, sparked by a top judge calling unemployed youths 'cockroaches', has become one of the biggest challenges to his government.
What Are the 'Cockroach' Protests?
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a satirical name adopted by protesters, demands accountability for exam paper leaks that have plagued India's competitive examinations. An estimated 50,000 people marched in Delhi, facing baton charges and teargas. Over 1,000 protesters remain camped in central Delhi despite extreme heat, calling for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Modi's Fast-Track Court Proposal
Modi promised faster justice through specialized courts to handle exam leak cases. However, CJP spokesperson Saurav Das rejected it as a 'Band-aid', noting zero convictions so far. The protest movement insists on systemic reform, not just procedural changes.
