Thailand School Shooting: Teen Suspect Kills 7, Injures 30 2026

Thailand school shooting victim toll rises as a 14-year-old suspect kills at least seven people and injures more than 30, officials say. The tragic event unfolded at Debsirin Secondary School in Bangkok, sending shockwaves through the nation and prompting urgent calls for stricter firearm regulations.

Details of the Thailand School Shooting

The suspect, a 14-year-old student at Debsirin, first killed his grandparents at their home using his grandfather's handgun. He then traveled to the school and opened fire, targeting teachers and students. Police confirmed that five teachers were shot before the suspect turned the gun on himself.

Reports indicate that at least 30 people were injured, with nine in severe condition. A 12-year-old girl remains in a coma after suffering a bullet wound to the head. The health minister visited Phra Nang Klao Hospital, where two patients underwent surgery and are now stable.

Response and School Closure

In response to the tragedy, Debsirin School has suspended all classes from 10 to 14 August, with staff instructed to work from home. The Higher Education minister donated blood at a nearby hospital and urged the public to do the same. Police have collected evidence from the suspect's residence, including computer equipment.

Thailand's prime minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, stated that the suspect was under stress and had planned the assault. He vowed to propose a new law to restrict public firearm carrying, addressing the country's high rate of private gun ownership.
