Transfer Rumours: Atlético Want Alvarez to Join Arsenal Over Barcelona 2026

Football transfer rumours are heating up as Atlético Madrid prefer Julian Alvarez to join Arsenal over Barcelona. The former Manchester City forward has been linked with a move all summer, and the latest reports suggest a meeting between the player and Atlético's chief executive will decide his future.

Atletico's Stance on Alvarez Transfer

Atletico Madrid are reportedly edgy about selling their best player to a domestic rival like Barcelona. According to sources, they would rather see Alvarez move to Arsenal, where he could continue his development in the Premier League. The Gunners have been long-term admirers of the Argentine international.

Barcelona, on the other hand, have agreed a deal for Rodri, which might free up space for Alvarez. However, Atletico's preference for Arsenal could complicate matters. A meeting between Miguel Ángel Gil Marín and Alvarez is scheduled to thrash out the player's future.

Key Transfer Rumours in the Premier League

Newcastle United are also active in the market, with links to RB Leipzig midfielder Nicolas Seiwald. The Austria international played under Matthias Jaissle at RB Salzburg, and Newcastle are in need of fresh faces after being raided earlier in the summer.

Manchester United have shunned attempts to sign Lewis Hall, so they are looking for a left-back. Joaquin Seys of Club Brugge is reportedly a carbon copy of Hall and has been shunted to the top of United's hitlist. Barcelona midfielder Marc Casadó is also a potential target for United.

Comparison: Alvarez's Potential Destinations

Arsenal offers a clear starting role, while Barcelona might have more competition. Atletico's preference for Arsenal could be a decisive factor in the transfer.
