Xiaomi and its subsidiary Redmi held a major event in China, unveiling a host of new devices. The new flagship Redmi K80 Ultra smartphone and the Redmi K Pad, a compact tablet, played a central role.
Redmi K80 Ultra
The Redmi K80 Ultra comes as the most "playful" model of the K80 series, positioned between the basic K80 and K80 Pro. It has MediaTek's Dimensity 9400+ processor, a 7,410mAh battery with 100W fast charging support, and a large 6.83-inch OLED screen with 1280p+ resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. The screen reaches a maximum brightness of 3,200 nits, while it incorporates an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and a 20MP front camera.
On the back it has a 50MP main camera with an OV Light Fusion 800 sensor (1/1.55″), combined with an 8MP ultra-wide angle lens (OV08F). The K80 Ultra supports IP68 for water and dust resistance and runs Xiaomi HyperOS 2 based on Android 15.
Redmi has also upgraded the sound system of the device, adding dual AAC 1115 coaxial stereo speakers, as well as an X-axis linear vibration motor, for an even better gaming experience.
The Redmi K80 Ultra is available in four shades: Sandstone Grey, Moon Rock White, Spruce Green and Ice Front Blue. Prices start at CNY 2,599 (~$362) for the 12GB/256GB version and go up to CNY 3,799 (~$530) for the top-of-the-line version with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
Redmi K Pad
Along with the K80 Ultra, the Redmi K Pad, the company's first compact tablet, was also presented. It has an 8.8-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 3008 x 1880 pixels, an aspect ratio of 16:10 and a refresh rate of 165Hz. Its body is metal, with a thickness of 6.46 millimeters and a weight of 336 grams.
Like the smartphone, the tablet incorporates the Dimensity 9400+, offering options of up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. It has an 8MP front camera and a 13MP rear camera.
For the seamless gaming experience, the K Pad includes a 12,050 mm² vapor chamber for efficient heat dissipation. In addition, it is equipped with two USB-C ports – one on the bottom and one on the side – for greater ergonomics when charging and using at the same time. The 7,500mAh battery supports 67W fast charging.
