Best Restaurants in Córdoba with Good & Cheap Spanish Food
1. Gongora Tavern
We're starting off strong, as Taberna Góngora is synonymous with quality food, good service and traditional Cordoban recipes that will make you want to come back again and again. Here you must definitely try the salmorejo (€3.25), oxtail croquettes (€5.25) and fried anchovies with lemon (€4).
2. Luque Tavern (closed!)
And we're still going strong: Taberna Luque is a paradise for those of us who want to eat well without spending an arm and a leg. The star dish here is the homemade flamenquín with Iberian loin and Bellota ham (€11.90), but the oxtail and grilled squid are also recommended. So don't hesitate: if you come... fill up on your boots!
3. Pepe's House of the Jewish Quarter
Just a few steps from the Mosque, in the heart of the Jewish quarter, is Casa Pepe. It may not be the cheapest place (but don't worry, the prices aren't too high!), but its dishes are quality and cooked very well. We recommend the aubergines with cane honey (€7 for a half portion) and the oxtail dish (€17 for a portion).
4. Bar Santos
If you pass by here and see a queue, don't worry: it's normal and the fact is that Casa Santos serves the best potato omelette in Cordoba . And not only is it good... it's huge: each omelette has 20 eggs 0_O when I saw it I thought it was a whole Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. It's certainly a curious place! The omelette pincho costs €2.30 and stopping here and having a couple of tapas and a beer is almost obligatory.
5. The Boxes Tavern
An interesting daily menu is served for €8.90, which includes a starter, main course, bread, dessert and water or wine. The dishes are homemade and simple and usually include at least one vegetarian option. For those who prefer to eat something else, the tapas menu is quite extensive (there is also a tapas tasting menu, although we found the price too high).
6. The Fan Tavern
A fresh and modern place that offers a few dishes of typical Cordoban cuisine, and we are of the opinion that to eat pizza, you have to go to Naples. In Cordoba you have to eat Cordoban: salmorejo, aubergines with honey, homemade croquettes and flamenquín never fail (although there are many more options on the menu). The prices are good, calculate 10-15€ per person. Also, if you like cooking, take note of the recipes that are posted on the walls of the restaurant, you will surely be inspired.

7. Snails from La Magdalena
We have to admit that we are not big fans of snails, but hey… if you come to Córdoba once in your life, you have to try them. Here, in La Magdalena, you can eat some of the best in the city . There are different types (with broth, spicy…). It is cheap so if you don’t know if you like them or not… give them a try.
8. Casa Patri Bar
We had dinner here and we loved it. It has a terrace in the Plaza de la Corredera and at night it was great. We tried salmorejo (4€), oxtail (6€) and japuta en adobo (5€). Everything was delicious, but we thought the salmorejo was sublime! The half portions are huge, so it's better to order little by little. The man who served us was super friendly and he advised us on what to order.
9. The Rooster Tavern
We ended up in this bar because it was recommended to us by the girl who rented us the Airbnb apartment and we loved it! Of course, if you go you have to like places with a lot of personality and not much modernity haha. We tried the salmorejo (it was what we liked the least), the fried aubergines (delicious), the croquettes, the battered prawns and the flamenquín. As I said: it is a very authentic place to eat in Córdoba and with very good prices: we paid about €20 in total (we ordered tapas and half portions, just the full portion of salmorejo).
