The Asus ROG Xbox Ally has become a standout affordable option in the handheld gaming PC market, especially as prices for competitors like the Steam Deck have skyrocketed. With the most basic Steam Deck now costing nearly 800 euros, the ROG Xbox Ally at 449.99 euros offers a compelling alternative for gamers on a budget.
This handheld console typically retails for 599 euros, but a special promotion brings it down significantly. By registering on the official Asus store and using the code 'BIENVENIDA10', you get an extra 50 euros off, making it 499.99 euros. Plus, you receive three months of Xbox Game Pass and a free transport backpack if you select the option on the product page.

Why the Asus ROG Xbox Ally Stands Out
The ROG Xbox Ally is a portable gaming PC with performance similar to the Steam Deck. It may struggle with highly demanding titles, but it handles less intensive games like 'Hades 2' or 'Slay the Spire 2' with ease. This makes it perfect for gamers who enjoy indie titles and older AAA games.
Key features include a 7-inch IPS display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth visuals. The console also comes with three months of Xbox Game Pass, giving you instant access to a vast library of games. And don't forget the free backpack—a handy bonus for gamers on the go.
Performance and Display
Under the hood, the ROG Xbox Ally is powered by an AMD Ryzen processor, though specific details aren't provided. The 7-inch IPS screen with 120 Hz refresh rate delivers vibrant colors and responsive gameplay. It's important to note this is not the Xbox Ally X, which is a more powerful version. The standard Ally is designed for casual and moderate gaming.

How the Asus ROG Xbox Ally Compares to Other Handhelds
When stacked against the Steam Deck, the ROG Xbox Ally offers similar performance at a much lower price point. |---|---|---|
| Price | 449.99 euros (with discount) | ~800 euros |
| Display | 7-inch IPS, 120 Hz | 7-inch LCD, 60 Hz |

Other alternatives like the Lenovo Legion Go or Ayaneo devices are also available, but they often come with higher price tags. The ROG Xbox Ally hits a sweet spot for those who want a capable handheld without breaking the bank.
Who Should Consider the Asus ROG Xbox Ally?
This console is ideal for gamers who primarily play indie games, older titles, or cloud-based games via Xbox Game Pass. If you're looking to play the latest AAA releases at high settings, you might want to consider the more powerful Xbox Ally X or a different device. But for casual gaming and on-the-go fun, the ROG Xbox Ally is a smart choice.
Students, commuters, and travelers will appreciate its portability and the free backpack.
