Chelsea Transfer News: Chalobah Exits, Henderson Signs 2026

Chelsea transfer news is dominated by the club selling Trevoh Chalobah to Como and signing Jordan Henderson, marking a significant shift in their squad strategy. The moves highlight Chelsea's focus on balancing finances while adding experienced depth.

Chelsea Sell Trevoh Chalobah to Como

Trevoh Chalobah's long association with Chelsea is ending after Como agreed a deal worth an initial £25.7m. The England defender, who has been at the club since age eight, made 105 Premier League appearances and became a reliable first-team option during turbulent periods.

The package includes £5.1m in performance-related add-ons and a sell-on clause. For Chelsea, this departure generates pure profit, a key factor as they continue to comply with financial regulations.

Why Chalobah's Departure Matters

Chalobah's exit is a coup for Como's head coach, Cesc Fàbregas, who pushed to bring the centre-back to Italy. This move also underscores Chelsea's willingness to part with homegrown talent to strengthen their financial position.

Jordan Henderson Joins Chelsea on Free Transfer

On the same day, new manager Xabi Alonso welcomed Jordan Henderson to Chelsea after his departure from Brentford. The 36-year-old midfielder joined on a free transfer, having played 34 times for the Bees last season and earning a place in England's World Cup squad.

Henderson expressed excitement: "Given the size of the club, the manager, who I have great admiration for, and the quality of the players, this was a huge opportunity I couldn't turn down." His experience includes captaining Liverpool to Champions League victory in 2019 and the Premier League title in 2020.

Henderson's Career Journey

Henderson came through Sunderland's academy before joining Liverpool in 2011. He spent 12 seasons at Anfield, playing 492 games. After a stint with Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia and Ajax, he moved to Brentford last summer. He is Chelsea's fourth English signing of the window.
