Donald Trump has strongly criticized New York's datacenter moratorium, calling it a terrible decision that threatens jobs and AI progress. The executive order, signed by Governor Kathy Hochul, halts hyperscale datacenter construction for one year, making New York the first US state to enact such a pause.
Why the Datacenter Moratorium Matters
The moratorium aims to address environmental impacts, including energy grid strain, water usage, and noise pollution. Hochul stated the pause allows regulators to create stronger frameworks. However, Trump argues it's a political move that will drive datacenters to other states.
