Many staff feel their safety concerns are not taken as seriously as those of their MP, despite parliamentary authorities occasionally listening.

The working group is calling for “urgent” greater protection for frontline staff who often act as a proxy for their MP. Recommendations include improved physical security measures, better mental health support, and a zero-tolerance policy for abuse from visitors. Staff also want more consistent reporting mechanisms and parity with their MP in how safety incidents are handled.
