The new comedy Ann Droid offers a fresh take on elderly care and AI companionship, starring Diane Morgan as a preloved robot carer. This hilarious yet heartfelt series explores what happens when a widowed older woman, Sue (Sue Johnston), is given a robot named Linda to help her after a fall.
A Unique Perspective on AI and Elderly Care
Unlike typical stories that paint robots as either saviors or threats, Ann Droid finds a middle ground. The robot Linda is incompetent, socially awkward, but also surprisingly compassionate. She reminds Sue to take medication and creates social activities to combat isolation.

Why This Comedy Stands Out
The series cleverly critiques late-capitalist subscription models—the robot is useless without an internet connection. It also tackles family dynamics, as Sue's son Michael (Paul Ready) makes selfish choices. The show balances humor with real issues facing the elderly today.
