Rory McIlroy's driver produced one of the most memorable shots of the Open Championship, but his putting struggles kept his hopes in balance. The Northern Irish golfer launched a 403-yard drive onto the green at the par-four 9th, yet a tentative putt left him with only a birdie instead of an eagle. This moment encapsulated McIlroy's round: fearless off the tee but inconsistent on the greens.
McIlroy's Driver Dominance
McIlroy's driver is a thing of beauty. The sound of impact is more like a yogi softly exhaling than a violent clank. On Friday, he unleashed a 190mph shot that flew 403 yards, leaving the crowd in awe. His driving ability remains world-class, but the rest of his game needs to catch up.
