Henkel Unveils New Cardboard Cartridges for Pattex Sealants & Adhesives 2026

Henkel has launched a new generation of cardboard cartridges for Pattex sealants and mounting adhesives, featuring an innovative design that significantly boosts product sustainability while improving the user experience. The new cartridges will be available from September 2025 for sanitary and multi-purpose silicone sealants, and will gradually roll out to other product categories.

Current cartridge technology, developed back in the 1930s, requires a utility knife to open, takes time to prepare for application, and generates a considerable amount of plastic waste. Aligned with its ambitious sustainability goals, Henkel has initiated several global projects over recent years to substantially innovate the cartridge system—without compromising product performance, and in fact improving usability.

The new cardboard cartridge generation took about two years of design, development, and testing, involving over 3,000 professional and DIY users. “This new generation represents significant progress in sustainability and, at the same time, enhances the experience for those who choose Pattex for work or DIY, without any compromise on the quality and performance our customers know well,” said Albert Lipperheide, Director of Consumer & Craftsmen at Henkel Adhesive Technologies for Italy and Greece. “We are convinced these new cartridges are a differentiating element in the adhesives and sealants market, where user expectations are increasingly higher.”

Less Plastic and Non-Recyclable Waste

Conventional cartridges are mainly made of plastic and, once used, must be disposed of as mixed waste because the packaging is contaminated with adhesive or sealant residue. The new cardboard cartridges contain 51% less plastic and reduce the share of non-recyclable waste by up to 73%. This is a big win for anyone looking to make their home improvement projects more eco-friendly—pair them with sustainable garden supplies for a greener workspace.

Simplicity and Safety in Use

The new opening system makes product application easier and faster. No more fumbling with a utility knife—just a simple twist or snap, and you’re ready to go. This not only speeds up your workflow but also eliminates the risk of cuts from sharp blades. For a complete workshop upgrade, check out our desks and work surfaces to keep everything organized.

Performance Without Compromise

Despite the shift to cardboard, Pattex guarantees the same strong bonding and sealing performance. Whether you’re mounting shelves or sealing bathroom fixtures, you can trust the product to hold up. For more heavy-duty tasks, consider adding a sturdy storage bench to your workspace for extra durability and storage.
