Where to study English in the United States: 7 Top Cities

There are hundreds of wonderful cities perfect for spending some time in the United States, but in this post we will focus on those that, for us, are the best cities to study English in the United States for one reason or another. Ready to start your great trip? Let's go!

1. New York

Is there a better way to learn English than in the most amazing city in the world ? We doubt it ☺ For us, New York is THE top destination in the United States. Okay, we're not very original, but how can you compete with a city like that?

Between classes you can stroll through iconic neighborhoods like the West Village, climb to legendary viewpoints like the Top of the Rock , rent a bike and get lost in Central Park and, of course, discover all the charms of Manhattan, Brooklyn and the other boroughs of New York.

Insider tip : watch the sunset from WNYC Transmitter Park in Greenpoint (Brooklyn)

2. San Francisco

If New York is our favourite city in the United States, San Francisco, with its hippie and innovative spirit , is close behind. Learning about its history, strolling through the Castro, Mission or Chinatown, crossing the iconic Golden Gate or greeting the sea lions at Pier 39 are just some of the things that await you in San Francisco . Believe us: this Californian city is addictive…

Insider tip : Rent a bike and cross the Golden Gate to Sausalito and take a boat back across the bay (with luck you'll come across a dolphin or whale).

Plus there's a big plus: you'll have access to a Chicago-style pizza after each class 😉 we'll leave it there.

The Windy City is multicultural, full of skyscrapers and street art, wonderful corners and museums such as The Art Institute of Chicago where, among other works, you can admire Van Gogh's "Bedroom in Arles" and "Self-Portrait of 1887", or Picasso's "The Old Guitarist".

Insider tip : Did you know that the legendary Route 66 begins here ? Taking a selfie with the sign marking the beginning of the Mother Road is a must! You can find it at the intersection of E Adams S and S Michigan Ave.
