Parenting is a challenging task.

If you are planning to have a child just to test the waters, please don’t because things will heavily backfire. Parenting is a very tough and challenging process and it brings with itself massive responsibilities that must be honored with total commitment to the well-being, good health, and happiness of that child. And if you have a child with special needs, then just multiply those responsibilities by ten. As a parent to such a child, you also tend to be a bit more attentive, care extra, and stay proactive just to make sure no problems arise. So please, become a parent when you know you are ready to take on the new chapter of life.

Being overprotective as a parent is not a bad approach at all, in fact, this is the best approach. I know, people have a lot of opinions about this approach and many say it kills the child’s confidence. This difference of opinion often results in arguments among parents.

Today’s story touches upon a similar topic as a mother locks her 4-year-old’s room just so her friends’ and relatives’ kids don’t trash his room and mess up his favorite toys. Reddit user u/halfa**millennial shared this story on the infamous subreddit Am I The A**hole? to know if she was wrong for doing what she did.

1. OP’s son, who has autism, is only 4 and he is already super passionate about collecting things.

2. You name it and this kid has that toy. And he likes to keep everything organized.

3. OP’s problem is that every time other kids show up, they mess up all his toys, trashing everything.

Via u/halfa**millennial

4. They literally annihilate all of OP’s son’s toys.

5. These are kids OP is talking about right? Kids…

6. Kids are supposed to play with toys, why are these ones so committed to destroying all of them?

7. OP used to try to hide the toys to avoid damage but on the most recent visit, she just barred the kids from entering her son’s room.

Via u/halfa**millennial

8. She had so many toys in the living room for the other kids to play with but they only wanted her son’s favorite toys.

Can you imagine a kid saying one set of toys is not as good as the other set of toys?

9. The sister and the best friend didn’t like the behavior of OP.

10. Once the kids trash his room, OP’s son gets upset but she gets blamed for not letting her kid share.

Via u/halfa**millennial

11. The only people that need some teaching are those kids who cause a rampage in OP’s son’s room every time they show up.

Via u/halfa**millennial

12. Exactly! Kids playing with another kid’s toys wouldn’t have been a problem. Kids breaking another kid’s toys is a problem.

Via u/halfa**millennial

13. The sister and the best friend won’t ever bring their kids over to OP’s house again. Problem solved.

14. And OP left her fate at the hands of the members of the AITA community.

Honestly speaking, there is no question of being wrong here. I don’t know why OP felt the need to ask if she was wrong or not. Let me tell you wide and clear, you are NTA.

Those little creatures that show up at your house and break all of your autistic child’s favorite toys are evil, they were probably brought up by the devil for being this monstrous. I have never seen a kid find enjoyment in breaking toys, it is always the other way around. This tells me how great parents are those women. The real AHs in this story are the sister and the best friend. They really need to teach their children how to behave when at other people’s houses.

Here’s what the Redditors of the AITA community had to say:

15. Only allow the kids if they don’t break any of the toys and organize them back in place.

Via u/halfa**millennial

16. OP’s kid has a right to his space and if he wants, no one can step foot in that room.

Via u/halfa**millennial

17. The only issue is, those kids weren’t playing with those toys, they were destroying them.

Via u/halfa**millennial

18. Do the same with those kids, trash their toys and see how their parents react. That would teach a solid lesson.

Via u/halfa**millennial

19. Just don’t ever call them over and if they want to come over, just say no.

Via u/halfa**millennial

20. Those kids need some serious lecturing.
