OP, a dog groomer, enjoys taking numerous photos of dogs throughout the day and sharing them on social media, despite not being a professional photographer and rarely photographing subjects other than dogs.
OP agreed to shoot a friend’s wedding after being convinced by the friend’s assurance that perfection wasn’t necessary due to their tight budget. OP agreed to photograph the 10-hour event for a fee of $250, considering it a minimal amount.
OP spent the wedding day driving around and capturing moments as he followed the bride from various appointments before the ceremony. He photographed the ceremony and continued taking pictures during the reception:
OP found himself unable to take a break for food during the wedding around 5 pm and was not allocated a seat at any table. Exhaustion began to set in, and OP started to regret agreeing to photograph the wedding for such a low fee.
OP reached a breaking point and requested a 20-minute break to eat and drink but OP was informed by the groom that he had to choose between fulfilling his role as the photographer or leaving without payment. OP deleted all the photos in front of the groom and quit:
Many people have asked the couple about the wedding photos but they have not responded:

In a situation where extreme heat, exhaustion, and hunger threatened to overshadow the joyous occasion, OP’s decision to prioritize his health and well-being was a crucial act of self-care. While the commitment to professional responsibilities is important, it should never come at the expense of one’s physical and mental health. OP was faced with challenging circumstances, including extreme heat, hunger, and lack of basic necessities. Feeling disregarded and undervalued, OP made the decision to leave the event after the groom insisted on prioritizing photography over their well-being. It is understandable that people who were expecting to see wedding photos might be disappointed by the lack of response.
OP risked his health to cover that event:
