Decorative Hanging Shelf Ideas, If you live in a small home and don't have much wall space, you may be craving some extra hanging storage. But instead of going out and buying hanging shelves, why not try making your own? In this video tutorial, I'll show you how to make it happen with just three supplies.
Materials:
- Round cutting board or a piece of wood of your choice.
- Sturdy craft thread or cord
Tools:
- Scissors
Instructions:
1.- You will need many pieces of cord or rope for this project that are identical in length. The easiest way to do this is to take the thread off the spool and gather it into a loop.

Then, while holding that loop, make another one, and another, and another, and so on. When you think you have collected enough (ideally, the number of threads should be divisible by four), cut the end connected to the bobbin.
Then cut the top and bottom of all the loops.
This should give you a bunch of cables, all the same length. They are also conveniently put together, as necessary for the next step.
2.- It should be noted that this is a step that is difficult to describe in words, but is quite easy to transmit on video. As you will see in the video, it is also extremely easy to do.
3.- If you wish, you can twist the ropes together at this point to make them a little more manageable.
4.- At one end of the bundle of ropes, tie a simple overhand knot. This will keep the strings together at that end.
5.- Use the scissors to trim the ends so that they pass the knot.

6.- When you are gathering your cable lengths, I mentioned that ideally they should be divisible by four. That's so that during this step, you can separate them into four evenly sized strands. Once you have those four strands, pull them in opposite directions from each other, distributing them so that they are equidistant from each other. Then, place your wooden board on top of them.

7.- Once you have your slab of wood on top of the four strands you have created, lift them all up and bring them towards the center. Where they join at the top, tie another overhand knot to secure them.

8.- Now you can hang your shelf anywhere that is convenient for you.
