Floral Lampshade for Cool Lamps! Shades are so much fun to make. The light effect is always a surprise, which is very exciting 🙂

This article will show you how to make a cardboard lampshade with a very easy floral print. It won't take more than half an hour.

So let's get started!

#1: Necessary Materials

To make this screen you will need:

• White cardboard
• Scissors
• Pencil,
• Ruler (custom-made),
• Super glue and white glue
• Lighting system (lamp holder, plug, cable, bulb),
• Gold glitter paint and brush (if you want to paint the flowers).

#2: Getting started

• First, decide the size (length and width) of the screen.
• The screen I made is arc-shaped, 15 inches high and 7 inches wide.
• I had to cut a 15 x 20 inch piece of cardboard and fold 12 inches into an arc.
• Be sure to keep an extra inch while cutting the width because you will have to glue and sew the sides together.

#3: Design, cut and join

• Now is the time to design. Take a pencil and draw some floral patterns on the cardboard piece (on the 12-inch part).
• When you have finished drawing the flowers, take a pair of scissors and carefully cut the sides of the flowers. Don't cut the flowers, just cut the sides, keeping them together in the middle.
• You can add more details if you want. I added some dots by popping the cardboard.
• Now, join the sides using super glue as shown in the image.

#4: Base, cover and paint

• After gluing the sides of the screen you have to make the base and the top.
• Cut 3 arc-shaped pieces (1 for the top and 2 for the base) from the cardboard and make sure to measure the size before cutting.
• Glue 2 pieces of cardboard in an arc shape and glue the other one on top of the screen. (2 arc-shaped pieces that are glued together is the base).
• Now, cut a long strip of cardboard and glue it around the base (see image).
• You can style the top too.
• I also painted the flowers with gold glitter paint.

#5: Enlighten!

• You will need a small piece of cardboard, plug, cable, lamp holder and a light bulb.
• Do not use bulbs larger than 40 watts and it is better to use CFL light bulbs.
• Simply connect one side of the cable with the lamp holder and the other side with the plug.
• Cut 4 equal pieces of cardboard and cut them as shown in the image, I have also numbered them. Now, place 1 at the bottom and then stick 2 and 3 on top of it.
• Now take the cable (along with the plug) through 4 and stick it into 3. There you have the light ready.
• Now connect the lighting system with the display base and place the display on it.
• Plug in and turn on.
