6 Tips for an Exceptional Lego Themed Room, I wanted to expand that theme and create an entire Lego room.
When I bought my first house, I immediately got to work creating the best Lego room for adults. (What makes him an adult?
Maybe it's more organized than a child's room would normally be 🙂
Step 1: Storage and Organization

- Plan and create storage and organization for various sizes of bricks and sets.
- Large brick storage (IKEA frame and containers) is great for organizing by brick color and size.
- Various bricks and sets (Legos Bricks) are used to keep the odds, such as the Lego train track and sets that I don't have space to display.
- Small Brick Storage (Craft Cabinet) These two cabinets allow for easy organization of small bricks and pieces.
- Once I determined which bricks would go in each drawer, I printed a picture of the pieces on contact paper and placed them in front.
Step 2: Shelves

- We use a variety of shelves to display finished games.
- Floating shelves: We build with angle iron and scrap wood to display small games (see full details here).
- Wall shelves: Two standard hardware store shelves provide more display space.
- Large shelf: I put a border on a wooden board and placed it on top of the two Ikea Trofast frames to make a full display shelf for the lego sets.
- Display table: Using two IKEA KALLAX shelves, I re-attached the edge to a wooden board and placed it on top of the two units. This provides so many surfaces to display outfits!
Step 3: Play with Space

- Bench: Great for sitting, but also makes for a large playing surface (it's mid-century).
- Dry Erase Board: Great place to draw Lego set designs!
- Pallet Lego table nephew Tyler came up with this building idea, it's the perfect surface to set up a Lego city! (see full details here)
- Big Slow Lego Bricks: I went searching on Amazon and found these for my Lego room! We keep them stored in a light basket.
- Rug- I love having hard floors in this room, it's great for building but not so comfortable to sit on. We found this rug a few years ago and I thought it looked like the top of a Lego brick. It fits perfectly into the room and makes it more comfortable to play!
Step 4: Decorate

- Wall color: This color is called spicy apple. I love the pop of color it adds even though the bricks have a lot of color on their own. I wanted a fun color to go with this fun room.
- Curtains: I have oneA large large window in this room and can make the room hot during the day. I painted a piece of canvas the same color as my walls, and then had my nephews and niece (Tyler, Andrew, Ava) put their handprints and footprints on it. I love how it turned out, and it's so special to me.
- Lego Posters: Sometimes Lego sets include a poster and I decided to show some
- Lego Art- I had this idea and thought it would be super cute for the room
Step 5: What to show?

- Ensembles versus personal creations
- Deciding what to configure to display was a fun part of this process. I was excited when I was able to put my Harry Potter sets back together (from 2000) and have them on display.
- I also have some custom creations that I saved from my Lego bathroom when I was in high school.
- But, my favorite games? When the nephews make their own outfit, I love to show them off with pride! My boy liked making minifigures when he was younger and I championed his favorites.
Step 6: Other surprises for children without Lego!

Along with all the Lego bricks and sets, I also have some "other" toys hidden in some Lego storage boxes.
They fit easily into the room without being noticeable when stored.
The children's favorites would have to be the Disney monorail, Mickey's gloves and the "grow" ball.
