Chelsea Transfer News: Chalobah Exit, Henderson Signs 2026

Chelsea transfer news is dominated by the departure of Trevoh Chalobah and the arrival of Jordan Henderson. The Blues have agreed a deal with Como worth an initial £25.7m for the England defender, while Henderson joins on a free transfer from Brentford. These moves highlight Chelsea's strategy of balancing the books while adding experience.

Chelsea Sell Trevoh Chalobah to Como

Trevoh Chalobah's long association with Chelsea ends after Como agreed a deal worth an initial £25.7m. The 27-year-old made 105 Premier League appearances for the Blues, establishing himself as a reliable first-team option during turbulent periods. The package includes £5.1m in performance-related add-ons and a sell-on clause.

For Chelsea, selling a homegrown academy product generates pure profit, which is crucial for financial fair play. Chalobah has been at the club since the age of eight, and his departure marks the end of an era. Como's head coach, Cesc Fàbregas, pushed to bring the centre-back to Italy, seeing him as a key addition to his squad.

Jordan Henderson Signs for Chelsea

On the same day, new manager Xabi Alonso welcomed Jordan Henderson to Chelsea. The 36-year-old midfielder joins on a free transfer after playing 34 times for Brentford last season, earning a place in England's World Cup squad. Henderson expressed his excitement: "Given the size of the club, the manager, who I have great admiration for, and the quality of the players, this was a huge opportunity I couldn't turn down."

Henderson's career includes 12 seasons at Liverpool, where he captained the team to Champions League victory in 2019 and the Premier League title in 2020. He also had spells at Al-Ettifaq and Ajax before joining Brentford. His experience will be vital for Chelsea's young squad.
