Procedure
Choose 5 to 8 pallets whose wooden boards are in good condition. The slats on my pallets were 5/8 inch thick.
#1 You can apply a wash before using the pallets, but you can only apply this step if the wood is washable.

Being able to wash the slats made a big difference in the appearance. If you can, choose pallets like the ones shown in the image below. The slats were attached to only two boards.

You can also use a saw to cut any stubborn nails or screws.

I used a 50 liter cooler for this project and dry laid some small strips to see how many I would need to cut.

Remove all hardware from the cooler: handles, wheels, hinges, latches, etc.

Now it's time to start building the legs and the coolest rustic frame. Pre-drill all holes so the wood doesn't splinter.

Place two legs on the top of the cooler and measure the distance between them. Next, add the width of two slats to this measurement. This measurement is for the slats that form the sides of the cooler.

Now measure the height of the cooler and determine how many slats you need: in my case, it was 6 slats for each side for a total of 12 slats. You will need enough slats to cover the entire height of the refrigerator plus an extra 4 to 5 inches.
Here's a little tip:
- Note how the legs are placed on the floor and make sure they are all oriented the same way. This is a small aesthetic preference, but it will affect the look of the refrigerator once you're done.
- Apply wood glue to the legs, place the wooden slatsbetween the legs, pre-drill two holes on each side of the slats and screw the slats to the legs.

Since the slats were 5/8 inches thick, he used 1 1/4 screws so that the screws would not protrude through the face of the slats.
Place the cooler upside down on a flat surface. Place a small wooden block level with the front of the cooler and against the side piece.

Cut a front strip to size and let it dry between the two sides to verify that the cooler fits.

Once you are sure that the front slat measurement is accurate, go ahead and cut 12 slats, 6 for the front and 6 for the back.
Attach 6 slats on top of each other to the left and right sides. Add wood glue, pre-drill two holes on each side of the slats, and screw them to the legs just as you did the sides.

When you're done you'll have the coolest rustic frame. Dry the cooler on the frame. It will be nice and comfortable.
To make the freezer shelf and lid, measure the distance between the outer edges of the front legs. Cut a slat this size.

Do the same with the hind legs.
Add glue to the top shelf. Place the front and back slats on top of the frame. Pre-drill holes in the slats and screw them in.

Measure the distance between the front and back slats. This will give you the measurement of the side portions of the shelf. Cut those slats to size and attach them to the colder frame as you did in the previous step.

Ready, you now have your own rustic freezer so you can enjoy an afternoon with your family or friends!
