Dubai Offers £600 Rewards to Residents for Tourist Referrals 2026

Dubai's new Dubai Invite scheme offers residents £600 rewards for referring family and friends as tourists, aiming to revive plummeting visitor numbers after the US-Israel conflict with Iran disrupted travel. The initiative from the department of economy and tourism allows UAE residents to nominate non-resident visitors and receive a benefits package worth over 3,000 dirhams, including hotel stays, dining deals, and attraction tickets.

Dubai's Tourism Crisis and the Invite Scheme

Dubai welcomed nearly 20 million tourists in 2025, a record year. However, the recent conflict with Iran has caused a dramatic downturn. Airlines operating at Dubai airports halved, missiles hit the Fairmont hotel and airport, and tourist numbers plummeted. Hotels report massive vacancies, with revenues down over 50% in some cases. The Invite scheme is a direct response to this crisis, incentivizing residents to become brand ambassadors.

How the Dubai Invite Scheme Works

Residents can nominate up to three visitors who must arrive before October 31 with a valid tourist visa. Each nominated visitor can only be used once. The benefits package—worth about £610—can be redeemed through December. Eligible visitors are non-UAE residents, and the scheme aims to fill empty hotel rooms and revive the hospitality sector.

Impact on All-Inclusive Resorts and Hotels

Many famous hotels, including the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab, have shut for renovations—the Burj closed for 18 months. Others are leaning into the government scheme, offering special packages to residents who bring guests. All-inclusive resorts, once the backbone of Dubai's tourism, are now desperate for bookings. The downturn has shattered the city's image as a safe, gilded playground.

Key Takeaways

• Dubai residents can earn up to £610 in benefits per referred tourist.
• The scheme targets non-UAE residents arriving on tourist visas before October 31.
• Tourism decline follows missile attacks on Dubai airport and hotels in February.
• Hotel vacancies and airline cuts have forced closures and renovations.
• All-inclusive resorts are central to the recovery push.
