Alessia Russo on Arsenal Love, Parade Joy, and Women's Football 2026

Alessia Russo, the Arsenal forward, shares her deep connection to the club, the unforgettable trophy parade, and the rising popularity of women's football. Her story highlights how joining Arsenal transforms players into lifelong supporters.

Russo's Arsenal Journey: From Transfer to True Gooner

When Alessia Russo joined Arsenal, she brought her exceptional talent and quickly embraced the club's rich culture. The 27-year-old England international has become a key figure in the team's attacking lineup. Her passion for the club grew stronger after experiencing the historic double celebration with the men's Premier League and women's Champions Cup victories.

Russo admits that while she wasn't a childhood Arsenal fan, the club's environment is infectious. "Since I've joined the club and seen the people around the place, it's impossible to not become a part of Arsenal," she says. This sentiment resonates with many new signings who find themselves absorbed by the club's traditions and loyal supporters.

The Unforgettable Trophy Parade Through North London

The 9km parade through red smoke-filled streets was a moment Russo will never forget. She described it as "one of the most amazing things I've experienced," as fans lined every balcony, rooftop, and traffic light. The atmosphere was electric, with supporters of all ages celebrating the men's Premier League title and the women's Champions Cup success.

For Russo, the parade wasn't just about the trophies; it was about being part of a community. She enjoyed the moment with teammates Lotte Wubben-Moy and Leah Williamson, who are "proper Gooners." But she also felt her own connection deepen, saying, "When you come to Arsenal you take on a part of it and start to understand and absorb their love for Arsenal."

Women's Football Growth and Inspiring Young Girls

One of the most striking observations from the parade was the number of young girls in attendance. Unlike past celebrations, this generation saw many female fans, reflecting the rapid growth of women's football. Russo sees this as a positive sign for the sport's future and a responsibility for players to be role models.

The Arsenal forward is committed to nurturing this enthusiasm. She believes that visible success and community engagement are key to sustaining interest. "You pick out moments where you win trophies as the main ones that stand out within your career, but that will definitely always stand out for me," she adds, emphasizing the parade's impact on her and the fans.
