Coventry's Record Transfer for Yirenkyi and Palace's Gozo Swoop 2026

Coventry City are set to make Ghana midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi their record signing with a £23m fee, while Crystal Palace close in on US youth international Zavier Gozo. This transfer roundup covers the latest moves in the football world.

Coventry's Record-Breaking Spending Spree

Coventry have already spent nearly £60m this window on winger Loum Tchaouna, defender Aurèle Amenda, and goalkeeper Carl Rushworth. The Yirenkyi deal will mark the fourth time they've broken their transfer record in this window, signaling their ambition for the upcoming season.

The 20-year-old Ghanaian impressed at the World Cup, scoring the winning goal against Panama. He was named young player of the year in the Danish league last season and is a product of the Right to Dream academy.

Yirenkyi's Profile and Potential

Yirenkyi has been with Nordsjælland since 2024 and has drawn interest from Brighton and Everton. Coventry manager Frank Lampard has consulted his former Chelsea teammate Michael Essien, now a coach at Nordsjælland, about the midfielder's abilities. The deal is set to be a record for the Danish top flight.

Crystal Palace's Move for Zavier Gozo

Crystal Palace are closing in on an £11m transfer for 19-year-old Real Salt Lake player Zavier Gozo. The USA youth international, who has represented his country up to under-23 level, is expected to complete his move to south London after being left out of his side's game due to an 'excused absence'.

Gozo is viewed as a potential successor to Daniel Muñoz at right wing-back. Palace need cover after Nathaniel Clyne's departure and the sale of Danny Imray to Wrexham for £5m. New manager Pierre Sage is also looking to strengthen his squad with several more signings.
