A 14-year-old boy has been charged with terrorism offences after an alleged plot to target two London mosques was uncovered by police, highlighting growing concerns over youth radicalization in the UK.

On July 9, the boy was initially arrested on suspicion of criminal damage to a vehicle in the Sutton area of south London. However, during a search of his address, officers found “a number of documents of concern” that led to a terrorism investigation. The Metropolitan Police later charged him with preparation of terrorist acts on or before July 9, as well as racially aggravated damage to property for allegedly damaging a car window on or before June 20.
