The World Cup transfers often get overshadowed by the tournament itself, but several high-profile moves were finalized during the competition. From Leandro Trossard’s surprise switch to Besiktas to Denzel Dumfries joining Real Madrid, here are three of the biggest deals you may have missed.
Leandro Trossard to Besiktas
Announced just before England’s semi-final defeat, Trossard’s £15.3m move to Istanbul marked the end of a successful Arsenal stint. After 174 appearances and 36 goals, the 31-year-old leaves as a cult hero who scored crucial goals off the bench. His transfer was one of the most notable World Cup transfers during the tournament.

Nathaniel Brown to Bayern Munich
Few German players earned credit at the World Cup, but Brown’s energetic left-back displays caught Bayern’s eye. Born in Amberg and raised at Nürnberg, the 8-cap international moves from Eintracht Frankfurt to the dominant Bundesliga club. With Alphonso Davies injured and Raphaël Guerreiro leaving, Brown fills a vital gap for Vincent Kompany.
Denzel Dumfries to Real Madrid
The Netherlands right-back, a force at Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup, triggered his release clause from Inter to join Real Madrid on a four-year deal. After providing two assists at the World Cup, Dumfries becomes the latest freebie arrival alongside Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konaté.
