The recent escalation between the US and Iran has led to a full-scale war declaration by Iran's president, as the US launches its 10th consecutive round of strikes targeting military command centers, air defense systems, and missile sites. This ongoing conflict poses significant risks to global energy supplies and geopolitical stability.
US Military Strikes and Iranian Retaliation
The US military confirmed it struck military command centers, air defense and coastal surveillance sites, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and communications networks across Iran. In response, Iran launched attacks against Bahrain—home to the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet—and Kuwait, as well as striking oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil and gas shipments.

Impact on Global Oil Supplies
The Strait of Hormuz carried roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil and gas supplies before the war. With tankers now under attack, energy markets face severe disruptions. The Iran-allied Houthis in Yemen also announced a blockade of Saudi ports, further straining supply chains.
