The Tour de France stage 16 time trial delivered a thrilling victory for Remco Evenepoel, who beat Tadej Pogacar by 28 seconds to reduce the overall lead to just over four and a half minutes. The Belgian champion, now second overall, described his form as "amazing" and warned that the race is far from over.

Doping Test Controversy Deepens
The race has been overshadowed by a row over nocturnal doping tests conducted by the ITA. Pogacar was tested at 5am and Vingegaard at 2am last Sunday—outside the standard 6am – 11pm window. Although authorized by the Paris prosecutor's office, the timing has drawn sharp criticism. EF Education EasyPost manager Jonathan Vaughters noted, "With a French judge it's not going to be hard to get that warrant."
Why This Matters
Critics argue that early-morning tests disrupt recovery and sleep patterns, potentially affecting performance. Supporters say they are a necessary tool to catch doping in a sport with a troubled past. The debate continues as the race enters its final stages.
