Charley Hull Open Glory: 2026 Women's Open Preview 2026

Charley Hull is chasing Open glory again after multiple near misses at majors, and the 2026 Women's Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes presents her best chance yet. The 30-year-old Englishwoman has five runner-up finishes in major championships, and her popularity continues to grow as fans desperately want to see her break through. With Nelly Korda arriving as the world No. 1 and defending champion, Hull faces stiff competition, but her game and temperament are built for links golf.

Charley Hull's Major Championship Near Misses

Hull's record in majors is a testament to her consistency and talent. She has finished runner-up five times, including a one-shot defeat to Miyu Yamashita at last year's Women's Open and a recent second-place finish behind Korda at the US Women's Open. These close calls have only fueled her determination and endeared her to fans worldwide.

Why Royal Lytham Suits Hull's Game

Royal Lytham & St Annes is a classic links course that rewards accuracy and creativity. In 2018, Georgia Hall won her maiden major here, proving that English players can thrive on these demanding fairways. Hull's ability to hit low, running shots and her short-game prowess make her a natural fit for this layout.

Nelly Korda's Endorsement and the Competition

Korda, who has won four majors including three in 2026, has publicly backed Hull's chances. "She's such a great personality," Korda said. "It would be great for her to do it on home soil. She's an amazing player." Korda's praise highlights the respect Hull commands among her peers, but it also underscores the challenge: Korda is the player to beat.

Key Stats: Hull vs. Korda at Majors

What Hull Needs to Do to Win

To finally lift a major trophy, Hull must stay patient and avoid the costly mistakes that have plagued her in past final rounds. Her driving accuracy will be crucial on a course where Korda estimates she'll use her driver only five times per round. Hull's iron play and putting will need to be sharp, especially under pressure.

• Focus on hitting fairways to set up birdie chances
• Stay calm on the back nine, where past leads have slipped
• Use her links experience to manage wind and bounces
• Trust her short game to save pars when needed

Expert Prediction and Betting Insights

While Korda is the odds-on favorite, Hull's value as a popular pick is undeniable. Her recent form and the home crowd's support could provide the extra boost she needs. Golf fans and bettors alike will be watching to see if this is finally her moment.
