Step by step to close a gap in the wall

Step #1

After having covered the imperfections that we had on the wall, due to having removed the kitchen furniture, we put on gloves and removed the frame from the wall following this order: the sides, the base and the lintel. To carry out this work, we will use the chisel and a pot.

Step #2

The next step consists of looking for the beginning of the bricks and chipping the area, in order to be able to fill the gap with whole pieces, without the joints of one row coinciding with those of the other.

Step #3

Now let's go with the mortar. We pour the product into a bucket and add the amount of water indicated by the manufacturer. Next, we stir the mixture well until we obtain a homogeneous mass.

Step #4

We moisten the area on which we are going to work, so that the mortar does not crack when it dries. It is also advisable to soak the bricks.

Step #5

We apply the mortar in the hole and begin to place the first pieces, tapping them with the pot so that they sit well.

Step #6

When we have laid the first row of bricks, we continue laying more rowsuntil we reach the last piece, which we will probably have to adapt to the space we have left.

Giving a few blows with the trowel, we split the brick and place it in position, with a little mortar.

Step #8

Likewise, we fill any small cavities that may have been left with rubble and mortar.

Step #9

We wait for the product to set and polish the wall with plaster. To spread the dough well, we will use a trowel.

Step #10

After the drying time indicated by the manufacturer, we gently sand the surface until it is completely smooth. Then, we remove the dust produced when sanding.

Step #11

It's the turn of the finish. We cover everything that we do not want to stain with protective plastic and masking tape, we put on some latex gloves and we start by cutting out the wall that we are going to paint with the help of a brush.

Step #12

On the rest of the surface we will work with a short-haired roller and a telescopic handle that will allow us to reach the top of the wall without problems. To obtain a good finish, it is advisable to apply the paint in crossing passes.

Step #13

Before the product dries, we remove the tape and the protective plastic that we had placed to avoid staining.

Step #14

Once the paint has dried, we finish the job by fixing the baseboards to the wall using some lost head nails. To carry out this task, we will use the pneumatic gun.

Step #15

Work finished! Just like we open a hole in the wall, we cover it. And, achieving an unbeatable result.
