How to Prepare and Make a Vintage Coffee Table with a Pallet, in this article, I will try to explain step by step how I made this coffee table with wood and a pallet platform.

To achieve this you will need:

Tools:

• A hand saw (Japanese saws are the best in my opinion)
• White wood glue
• Screws
• Screwdriver
• Nails
• Hammer
• Clamps
• Sandpaper or powerful sanding tools

Materials:

• Wood filler
• Pallet
• Various pieces of wood: The size of the pieces depends on the pallet you have.

Step 1: First the main box

Let's get started. You want to make sure your pallet is ready before you make any crates. So, take your pallet, if it's wet, let it dry at home for a day or two to dry out the wood.

This will save you precious time because if you don't dry it out, as you will be filling the holes, sanding and cleaning, once they have dried, cracks will appear. So make it soft, make it soft.

After a first general sanding, blow off the dust and use a wood filler. Fill all your holes and cracks, make some repairs if there are missing parts on your pallet, depending on the size. Let dry for a day and sand your pallet once more.

You should be ready for the next part... Drawers!

Step 2: Drawers

I'll explain the basics so you can adapt this method for your project, but since your drawers will fit your own pallet, the dimensions will not be the same as mine. There are many different ways to achieve this table, especially on the drawers. I made them as simple as possible (it can be even simpler!), but feel free to spend more time on this and you could have a really impressive finished product.

• To start, on this table, I have used 2 pieces of walnut on each side of my drawers. I think it's a good contrast. If you plan to do the same, it's your first step for drawers as it will set the width of your drawer.
• Cut 8 pieces and glue/nail as shown in the images. Most of my wood pieces for this table are used a little raw. So I try to adapt it as much as possible to avoid cutting with power tools. It is mostly handmade so almost anyone can build one.
• For the front of the drawers, I have used the same process as the wooden pendant of my other instruments, but you can also use a tablero flat, it's up to you, be creative!
• Measure the space available for your drawer and cut the dimension. Allow 1/16 inch for each side to let it slide freely later.
• So I prepared my drawers, now let's deal with the drawer frame. At this point you need to decide the look of your table, do you want drawers?
• For a level version, measure the distance between 2 opposite front drawers, if it is level then it is the width of your pallet. Subtract 2 inches, then divide by 2, it will give you the total depth of 1 drawer. Measure the pieces needed for your frame and glue your drawers.
• To make sure they are square, measure the diagonal of the drawers, they should be the same. Once it has dried, glue and nail the bottom of your drawer, and you're done!
• Make two drawer sliders from scrap wood. Attached as shown in the images, nail and glue.
• For the table top, I have seen many different pallets, so mine got huge gaps between two slats, I decided to fill it with beech wood slats, leaving a small space between them. I like the vintage and boxy look of it.

Step 3: Final result

Here is my final result. But feel free to share yours. Many different options for legs. Mine are temporary, I want to find 4 legs to contrast with the rest of the table.
