Step 1: Cut the plywood sheets

The first job was to cut the leaves. I started by first breaking them down into manageable sizes, then refined them further using a homemade track for my circular saw.
It is made from 2 sheets of MDF, using the factory edge as a guide. Overall, the factory edge is almost straight, so it works well.
Once I cut the leaves, I used a router to cut rabbets and grooves in the leaves.
These add a small amount of strength, but are primarily used to align the panels and smooth them as they are joined.
These panels I used were quite warped in places, so being able to pull them up by gluing them together with screws and a flat edge really helps.
Step 2: Glue and screw

Next I glued and screwed the pieces together. Before adding the top, I drilled out some 50mm cutouts.
Using a circular saw, on the back of the middle shelf.
This would allow the unit to sit flush against the wall and allow the cables to pass through the cutouts.
Step 3: Prepare and Paint

For the paint I used a coat of primer, then 2 coats of acrylic, low gloss paint. Between coats I added a little filler to any imperfections.
I also finished the oak panel top. This is a prefabricated panel from my local hardware store.
Step 4: Make and fit the drawers

To calculate the width of the drawers, I measured the bottom panel (in this case, I used a littleover 19mm plywood), 2 sides and drawer guides.
Using this, I was able to cut my bottom panels to length and build the drawers from there.
I glued and screwed the sides together with clamps to hold them in place while I worked.
Once the drawers were built I was able to attach the drawer slides.
I started with the outside half of the slide, attaching it to the inside of the cabinet.
I then screwed the inner half of the drawer slide to the bottom of the drawer.
I lined the top drawer slide with a piece of scrap wood.
Step 5: Add the drawer fronts

The drawer fronts were made from the same oak panels, except it was a smaller panel than the previous one.
I started by cutting it to fit the cabinet cavity.
Once it fit perfectly, I cut it in half and trimmed the sides so there was 1.5mm around each drawer. I used window spacers to help with alignment.
I marked the handles and, using a drill press, drilled holes. then I was able to put the drawer fronts against the drawers and continue through the holes.
You could then screw on the handles from the inside of the draw.
Step 6: Add the Top and Call It a Day

The last step was to screw the top from below and everything was done!
