The stripping technique on wooden floors allows you to renew and correct any floor that is dull due to the passage of time.
In addition to improving the appearance, you will get an interesting and current design.
The wood must be, of course, natural; Laminated wood floors do not work.
This technique can be applied both on horizontal surfaces (floors), as well as on walls and ceilings covered with wood.

Tools:
- Brushes
- Broom
- Orbital sander with grit sandpaper
- Rag or tow
Materials to use:
- turpentine
- White latex
- Masking tape
- Varnish or lacquer remover (optional)
- Thin steel shavings
Steps to perform the stripping technique on wooden floor

Stripping can be applied over a previously masked design or evenly along the entire surface (wall, ceiling or floor).
If you are going to plan the design of an apartment, you can delimit an area as a carpet, it will be very attractive.
It is recommended to choose a color that harmonizes with the decoration of the rest of the room. The most recommended is white, which combines very well with the tones of natural wood.
#1: Prepare the surface
- If the floor surface has traces of lacquer or varnish, apply a specific remover to remove all the protection.
- Wait for it to dry.
- Sweep and clean well, shaving if necessary.

#2: Define the area to treat
- Prepare to scale on paper the design that you are going to give to the area on which you are going to work.
- Based on planned design measurements, tape the perimeter of the work area with masking tape.

#3: Sand the surface
- Using an orbital sander, sand the entire surface on which you are going to work, moving in the same direction as the grain of the wood.
- Remove loose dust with a cloth and/or tow moistened with turpentine.
- Let dry.

#4: Tape according to design and paint
- Finish taping, according to the projected design.
- Using a brush or roller, apply a coat of latex (water-based) to the area to be treated. It is not necessary for the brush strokes to be even.
- If you are going to paint the entire floor of a room, start your work on the opposite side of the door, so as not to get trapped.

#5: Remove the tape
- Let the surface dry (minimum 6 hours) and remove the tape so that the designs appear on the wood.

#6: Wear down the surface
- Put a medium grain sandpaper on the sander and begin to abrade the entire surface with it, always moving the tool in the direction of the grain.
- Wear more or less depending on the effect you want to achieve.
- If you feel like it and dare to do this work by hand, wrap a block of wood with sandpaper and pass it over the surface in the same direction as the grain.
- You will need a lot of patience.

#7: Protect the surface
- Remove excess dust with a damp cloth and let dry.
- Protect the surface by applying several layers of a product such as polyurethane lacquer, matte or glossy varnish, or another, depending on the decoration and finish you want to give to the floor.
