Tips for Building a Wooden Wall, the idea was to take a boring space in a long hallway and make it feel like it was your own.
The main feature is the wooden wall, which can go in any environment. The basic structure of this wall can be made anywhere, not just a commercial building.
I did something similar in my living room a couple of years ago and I still love it.

Step 1: Conception

I made some concepts through Photoshop to give a basic idea. This always helps to give a slightly tangible example of what it will look and feel like. This is the final concept. It's hard, but everyone was happy.
A couple of thoughts behind why I chose certain things:
Vertical orientation versus side board:
I wanted this space to feel deeper rather than longer, so I opted for a vertical design of the space.
This is an optical illusion that can work in your favor. If you want your living room to feel bigger and wider, you can orient the pieces laterally and it's amazing how it can help warm up a space.
Maturity:
This space is designed for students, both middle school and high school, as well as parents interested in what is offered to their children.
The level of maturity necessary to feel fun, but also mature.
A general rule of thumb is that when you decorate a space specifically for students, you would decorate one level higher.
For example, if a space is for high school students, you would decorate it as if it were a high school space. If it is for high school students, you would decorate it as if it were a university space.
In this case, I decorated this space with a college mentality.
It is both welcoming for parents and students. At least, in our area it is. It could be different for different cultures. But that's a completely different conversation.
Step 2: Construction

Infrastructure:
Since this is a commercial building, I needed to know that everything was going to stay.
I also knew that with my boards upright, I would have nothing to drive with except sheet rock or accidentally hitting a metal bolt.
Therefore, the solution was to cover the walls in 7/16″ OSB.
Screwing in the metal posts every 18″ kept everything tight and made it easy for us to nail the boards wherever we wanted.

Cara: I went with the wood fence because I knew the finish would look different on each board once applied, adding visual texture to the wall. I used the 2 in 1 polyethylene combo.
I stained all my pieces along their entire length, let them dry, and then cut them as I nailed them. I used 18 gauge nails. I laid it all down as a staggering floor.

I used 3/4″ galvanized pipe for the main structure of the shelves.
I would tell you what lengths I used, but I based it on the height of the average fliers, plus the size of the wooden shelves, plus the angle of the shelves' tilt...
You can use your own discretion here.
Step 3: Final Details

Once the wooden wall was up, we put the TV on. Since the OSB was working, we were able to screw the TV mount anywhere. That made things really nice.
The television plays a slideshow of announcements and upcoming student-specific events.
We made a pocket behind the TV stand for a MacMini, which is connected to the TV via HDMI and the Mac Mini is connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi. You can use Remote Desktop and upload images when necessary. It is quite transparent.
The cars are from Ikea. When the space is in use, they like to unroll the carts like little kiosks and stand behind them.
They work very well. I modified them to accept wheels like these. This helps with mobility, but also raises the carts toa comfortable height that feels accessible.
We also added the metal letters to the blue skin to tie in space to the rest of the building. The letters were custom made by a sign company so I can't really help you there. The source is Verdana, if that helps...
Overall this was a fun project and I really think this look could easily be adapted to someone's home or other commercial building.
