Wooden Bike Stand, when riding a bike, you want your bike to be very aerodynamic, which means stylish water bottles, a tight bike suit, and no unnecessary bike accessories that will slow you down, like the kickstand. Without a stand, bikes don't stand on their own, so I can build a bike stand.

Step 1: Cut 4×4 squares

First start by cutting two perfect squares, from a 2x4 beam. The dimensions of the squares should be 3 7/16″ x 3 7/16″.

Step 2: Slide them under the rim

Next, slide the two squares under the front tire of the bike and measure the distance from the end of one square to the other end, as in the image. Mine is 19 1/4″, different wheel sizes will get different measurements.

Step 3: Cut the boards

Now with the measurement you just obtained, mark two 19 1/4″ marks on a 2x4, and cut them out. Use a square to make sure the line is straight. Then cut two more 19″ boards for the base, again cutting it from a 2x4. You should now have two 19 1/4″ boards, two 3 7/16″ x 3 7/16″ squares, and two 19″ boards. If you have all of that, continue to the next step!

Step 4: Measure and mark

Measure the width of the bicycle tire and mark it centered on the 19″ base boards. My tire was 11/4″, it turns out later I had to reduce that measurement a little. The width you will get will vary depending on your bike. You can also loosely assemble the pieces as in the image. The 19″ boards are the base boards, and the longer ones are for the top ones.

Step 5: Flip

Now flip it over making sure everything is still aligned as it should be. Then screw the base boards to the upright boards.

Step 6: Supports

Now cut the two 4x4 squares in half diagonally, and you will use these triangles as side supports. Place a triangular support on each side of the vertical beams and screw them into place.

Step 7: Done!
