Wooden Phone Stand! 2026

Wooden Phone Holder, super simple and attractive. I had a lot of fun making the first one, so I made a second and a third, and today I'm here again to make a fourth.

Anyway, if you've ever wanted a modern wooden stand for your phone, read on!

Step 1: Choose your wood

You can use any type of wood you want. So far, I've made supports out of pine (I rescued a nice battered pine board from my nearby Habitat this summer and it's been great for this project) and oak. For my fourth stand, I'm going to use maple.

Step 2: Cut

The size of your phone holder mainly depends on the size of your phone and how big you want it. Sizes for the range are approximately 5.5 X 3.25 inches to 6.25 X 3 inches

Step 3: Cut the slot

I used a table saw to cut the slot that the phone sits on. I adjusted the blade to cut a slit halfway through the wood. I think the deeper the forest, the better it will be because it will hold your phone better, but I'm still experimenting.

To make the slot wider, I continued running my board across the saw, adjusting the fence as I went.

Approximately three to four cuts did the job. The width that works best for my phone is just under half an inch.

Step 4: Grove Angle

By cutting a slight angle into the slot, the phone can be angled a bit (which is nice).

If I knew the degree of the angle, I would tell you, but I really adjusted it until it looked right. You don't want too much angle though!

Step 5: Smooth the Groove

I found a piece of wood that was the width of the groove and some sandpaper wrapped around it. It worked really well to smooth things out.

Step 6: Finish!

After sanding everything, I sealed it with linseed oil.

Step 7: Optional Design

For one of the stands, I taped it up and painted it white. When it was dry, I finished it with linseed oil.

I didn't put oil on the paint as I wasn't sure how it would react and I didn't want it to fade.

Instead, I sealed the white part with a clear acrylic finish.

Step 8: Ready!

You could seal everything with some type of clear finish, but I liked the color the pine took when it was oiled.
