Each sheet of the 12″ x 12″ interlocking gravel slab has approximately 60 hand-picked stones attached to a sturdy mesh backing. Interlocking edges create a totally seamless look when installed.

You will need these materials:

• Pebble Stone Bags
• Floor system (Kerdi)
• Expanding mortar for filling (Grout)
• Floor sealant
• Thinset (Adhesive mortar made of cement, fine sand and a water retention agent such as a cellulose alkyl derivative)
• Pebble tile

And this tool:

• Palette
• Sponge
• Cubes
• Gloves

Make sure you have a suitable subfloor in place before you begin. Lay out the pattern of the pebble stones before gluing them into place.

Step 1: Set the mosaic

Using a trowel, evenly apply the adhesive mortar no thicker than 1/8″ (Image 1). Place the pebble tiles face down, interlocking each tile on all sides starting at the edge (Image 2).

Step 2: Fill in the empty spaces

Take some loose pebbles taken from other sheets and place them in the gaps along the edges. You don't want to cut the sheets because they will lose their smooth appearance.
Allow at least 24 hours for mortar to dry before using expanding mortar to fill.

Step 3: Apply Sealant

Apply a coat of sealer to prevent the stones from absorbing the color of the expanding mortar to fill. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for drying time.

Step 4: Expansive mortar to fill

Mix the grout to the proper consistency and then cover the pebbles with grout. Work in sections: start from one corner and work your way up. Apply the expanding mortar generously with a expanding mortar tool, making sure to pack the expanding mortar between the pebbles.

Step 5: Remove excess mortar

Allow the expanding grout to set for up to 20 minutes, then use a clean, damp sponge to wipe away excess.

Rinse the sponge often in clean water. Repeat this process several times until the pebbles are clean. Wait 24 hours for it to dry completely and then apply a coat of sealant over the expanding grout and pebbles.
