What Happened in Salisbury?

In March 2018, former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were found unconscious on a bench in Salisbury, England, victims of a Novichok nerve agent attack. The documentary, titled The Salisbury Poisonings: A Spy Next Door, uses interviews with local journalist Emma Volney, former Prime Minister Theresa May, and intelligence officials to reconstruct the chaos and fear that followed.

First-Hand Accounts of the Attack

Emma Volney, who was new to local radio at the time, recalls her disbelief: “You don’t expect to see two people on a bench foaming at the mouth.” Her testimony, along with others, paints a vivid picture of a community suddenly thrust into the spotlight of an international crisis. The documentary highlights how ordinary citizens became unwitting players in a geopolitical drama.
