Choose a blind that is slightly longer and wider than the window frame. You can use a hacksaw to cut the top end of the blind to get the right size.
What types of roller blinds exist?
There are roller blinds made of different materials, such as vinyl, cotton and ISO (with an aluminum insulating coating).
Choose the right place
Roller blinds are placed in front of the window. Apart from that, depending on the space available and your personal preferences, you can opt for different solutions:
1. You can hang the blind from the window frame.
2. You can hang the blind on the wall, above the window frame.
3. You can hang the blind from the ceiling.
Check for obstacles
Check that there are no protruding elements that could cause difficulties when raising or lowering the roller blind (for example, a window handle that protrudes too far).
If so, you may want to hang the blind so that it rolls and unrolls not from the back of the roller, but from the front.
Measure the width
If you want to hang the blind inside the window frame, measure the width of the blind (including the mounting brackets).
Leave an additional 5mm space on each side of the frame to easily attach the brackets.
Decide where the chain will go
Decide whether you want to place the chain on the left or right of the roller blind. After marking the position, fix the brackets inside or against the window frame.
The square with a hex head fitting, slot or pin protruding from it is usually the side with the chain mechanism.
Check first if this is the case, as it may vary from one brand to another.
Place the brackets on the wall or window frame
Decide the position of the first square and mark the holes. If you are attaching the bracket to the window frame, pre-drill the holes with a fine (2.5 mm) wood drill bit.
If you are attaching the blind to the wall, use a 6mm masonry drill bit along with plugs of the same size.
Next, place the first square and tighten the screws a little. Using a long strip of wood and a spirit level, adjust the roller so that it is horizontal. Next, mark the holes for the second square.
Attach the brackets to the ceiling
Measure the center of the window frame and use a check square to mark this point on the ceiling.
From that center point, measure the positions of the left and right angle brackets (each half the total length).
Cut the blind to the appropriate width
Before shortening the roller, you will need to subtract the thickness of both angles from the total width you measured. Typically this involves subtracting 2 x 4 mm from the measured width.
Mark the resulting width on the roller and saw off any excess.
Place the pin stop on the roller. Saw the bottom bar of the blind to the same width.
Cut the fabric to size
To measure and cut your blind fabric, first lay it out on a flat surface. After you have sawed it to the correct width, use the bottom bar of the blind to mark the same width on the fabric. Then cut the fabric to size.

Attach the fabric to the roller
Remove the protective sheet of the self-adhesive tape from the roller. The fabric should be rolled and unrolled on the window side.
Check which side the chain mechanism is located on. When fixing the fabric to the roller, it must be perfectly horizontal.
Otherwise, it will not roll straight. Fold the last 5 cm of the fabric, making a well-defined fold. Next, place the roller on the fold with the self-adhesive tape facing up.
Using both hands, roll the roller up until you reach the top edge of the fabric, making sure everything is perfectly straight. Next, roll up ¾ of the blind and insert the lower bar into the opening made for this purpose. The blind will be ready to hang.
Hang the blinds
First, insert the roller into the bracket with the chain mechanism and then into the other bracket.
